A double roll crusher reduces brittle materials into smaller sizes through compressive force between two counter-rotating, parallel rollers. These crushers are used for coarse and secondary crushing in industries like mining, cement, and chemicals. Material is fed between the rollers, which can be smooth or toothed to improve material draw. The gap between the rollers is adjustable to control the product size, and one roll is often mounted on a spring or hydraulic system to allow for the passage of uncrushable foreign objects, protecting the machine from damage.  How it works:
  • Feed: The material is fed across the width of the two rotating rolls.
  • Crushing: The material is drawn into the gap by the rollers' rotation and then crushed by compression alone as it passes through the narrow gap between the two rollers.
  • Roll Types: The rolls can be smooth for simpler crushing or have teeth (often trapezoidal or conical) that mesh together for finer crushing of brittle materials.
  • Product Size Adjustment: The distance between the two rollers is adjustable, which sets the maximum discharge particle size.
  • Oversize Protection: A movable or floating roll is designed to retract when large, uncrushable objects enter, allowing them to pass through without damaging the machine.
Key Features:
  • Counter-rotating rolls: Two rolls rotate in opposite directions.
  • Adjustable gap: The distance between the rolls can be set to control output size.
  • Oversize protection: A safety mechanism, often a spring or hydraulic system, protects the crusher from damage by uncrushable foreign material.
  • Roll surfaces: Rolls can be smooth, or they can be equipped with wear-resistant teeth for finer crushing.
  • Hollow rolls: The rolls are often hollow cylinders, with internal webs providing additional strength.
Applications:
  • Coarse and secondary crushing: Ideal for reducing brittle materials.
  • Industries: Used in the cement, mining, chemical, and metallurgy industries.
  • Materials: Suitable for crushing various rocks, ores, and other brittle bulk materials
